Chris Sanders
3D Range Captain
Chris is a retired accountant/CPA and has been a member of Pekin Archers since 2017. He was the Practice Range Captain 2023 and is currently the 3D Captain. Additionally, Chris is a certified Level I USA Archery Instructor and has been the Club’s lead instructor the last two summers for the archery classes held in cooperation with the Pekin Park District.
Chris and his wife Carol have been married nearly 45 years, have two married children and three grandchildren. In addition to helping out with the Club, Chris has been a Boy Scout volunteer since 1996. He was the Committee Chairman for the Troop his son belonged to for seven years and currently serves as the Committee Chairman for a group of volunteers known as the Wilderness Engineers. This group helps the ranger at Ingersoll Scout Reservation with many maintenance and building projects to keep the 600+ acre camp operating. Chris recently received the Silver Beaver award, the highest honor the W.D. Boyce Council can give to a volunteer, for his many years of service.
Since retiring and then joining Pekin Archers in 2017, Chris has been fairly successful bowhunting Illinois whitetails, filling tags each of the last seven years, and even his first turkey in 2023. He has also bowhunted in Colorado, Texas, Wyoming, and Montana with some success. He likes to travel around Illinois to other clubs for 3D shoots, but with three young grandkids, plus his commitment to the Boy Scouts, doesn’t have time for as many as he would like.
